ABD (Action Based Development) is based on tackling key questions/
issues which are the basis of Action Projects (APs).
These are established through a learning contract process.
The APs are identified by participants from within their own organisations
and are based on those issues that are seen as critical to the future
of the business, organisation, service or profession.
The Action Projects are based on two key components:
|
The key organisational challenges that participants face in their
role
|
|
The key personal challenges that participants face in developing
their leadership / professional capabilities |
The focus in the assessment criteria is upon outputs,
in other words, what is the impact of a participant’s action on
their management / leadership / professional practice and on their organisation.
This is different to assessing inputs such as knowledge and ability to
recall theory. In this approach it is what you actually do that is key,
together with the learning and development derived from reflecting on
your actions.
All of the above qualifications are awarded by
Kingston University, London.
